Kindergarten readiness, built every day

Our teachers use The Creative Curriculum®, a play-based, research-backed program used in early learning programs across Washington. Children learn through hands-on projects, learning centers and guided play, building the skills Spokane kindergarten teachers look for:

Recognizing letters and their sounds
Counting and understanding numbers
Writing their own name
Sharing, taking turns and making friends
Following classroom routines and directions

Teachers track each child’s growth with Teaching Strategies GOLD® assessments and share progress with families, so you always know how your child is doing. Field trips, faith-based activities and special events round out the year.

Our classrooms

Three preschool classrooms, grouped by age

Children move up as they grow, so every class fits where your child is developmentally.

Preschool 1

Our youngest class, starting at 2½. Children in diapers are welcome, so there’s no pressure to potty train before starting.

Preschool 2

For potty-trained kids building independence, language, early math skills and friendships.

Preschool 3

Our pre-K class, the year before TK or kindergarten, focused on the skills kids need for school.

Daily schedule

A typical day in our Spokane preschool

A predictable routine helps preschoolers feel secure and ready to learn. Here’s how a full day flows.

Arrival

Drop off from 6:00 AM with secure Procare check-in, then free play as friends arrive.

Circle time

The class gathers for songs, calendar, stories and the day’s learning theme.

Learning centers

Small-group time in art, blocks, early literacy, math, science and dramatic play.

Outdoor play

Running, climbing and exploring on our fenced playground, weather permitting.

Lunch & rest time

A healthy lunch made on site, followed by quiet rest time.

Afternoon & pickup

Snack, afternoon activities and free play, with pickup any time before 6:00 PM.

Hi my name is Shane I'm a single dad of 3 girls and I used this daycare for about 7 years when my girls went in I was reluctant but the first week they went they started behaving better at home fr. I kept my kids enrolled because this isn't just a day care it's a community that really cares about your kid and your family fr every holiday is celebrated they literally help u if u need it I am a single dad took my three girls through elementary school by my self and at least half that credit should go to this daycare  they are literally life savers ty flower and family I soooo appreciate you

Does my child need to be potty trained for preschool?

No. Preschool 1 welcomes children in diapers. Children need to be potty trained to move up to Preschool 2 and Preschool 3.

What ages does your preschool serve?

We serve children 2½ to 5 years old in three age-based classrooms. Preschool 3 is our pre-K class, the year before TK or kindergarten.

Do you offer full-day or part-time preschool?

We are a full-day preschool, open Monday–Friday from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and we offer part-time options. Call us to find a schedule that fits your family.

How much does preschool cost in Spokane at Ascend?

Tuition depends on your child’s schedule. Call (509) 327-3311 for current preschool rates. We accept Working Connections Child Care and military child care assistance.

What should my preschooler bring?

A set of extra clothes, clothing for the weather so your child can play outside, and diapers if your child is in Preschool 1. We provide meals and snacks.
